RTA Cabinets True or False

There are so many myths and misconceptions about RTA aka ‘’Ready to Assemble’’ cabinets that I feel it’s time to debunk the myths and clear up the misconceptions once and for all.

True or False

‘’RTA cabinets are cheaply made and inferior to assembled kitchen cabinetry.’’

True!

Some are low quality and some ready built cabinets are too. But high quality RTA cabinets are built with the same building methods as any fine cabinetry such as dovetail drawers and mitering, the one and only difference is they are not assembled. Fine quality RTA cabinets are strong, well-crafted and beautiful. You can learn more about them here. This fabrication that RTA cabinets are low quality came about because in the early days, RTA cabinets were made very cheaply with particle board and pressed fibers. In short, they left a lot to be desired. Today’s RTA cabinets are crafted from the same high quality woods as ready built cabinets. In fact, high quality RTA cabinets are far higher in quality than ready assembled at the same price.

Walcraft’s ready to assemble cabinets are maple. No fiber or particle board. Maple is a hardwood and one of the very best hardwoods for cabinet making. It’s far more durable than birch, pine or oak. The finishes are also the very best. ‘’RTA cabinets are too hard to assemble.’’

False.

If you buy from a reputable company RTA cabinets are not hard to assemble. A 100 pound woman could easily assemble them. You will need two people to install the upper wall cabinets, but assembly is a snap. The cabinetry includes detailed instructions and a list of the tools needed for the job.

‘’I can’t afford tens of thousands of dollars for new cabinets.’’

True.

You probably can’t. Custom cabinetry can get frighteningly expensive. But part of the beauty of RTA cabinets is they cost far less than ready made cabinets. In fact, ready to assemble cabinets (RTA) can cost up to 50% less than fully assembled and shipped custom cabinets. And Walcraft offers financing. You can have a kitchen full of stunning Walcraft White Shaker Cabinets or Raised Panel cabinets with the extras for far less than ready made cabinets. For that it’s well worth the extra work to assemble them.

‘’Only custom cabinetry will increase the value of my house.’’

False.

Once RTA cabinets are assembled and installed, they will give the same value to your home as ready assembled. And no one will ever know they are RTA. You can increase the value of your home and decrease the time it would take to sell it for far less money spent. A far wiser way to increase value.

‘’But I’ll still have to hire an architect to draw up plans for my new kitchen.’’

False.

An architect is really not necessary for a kitchen redo. Even if you plan a major remodel you can simply hire a highly competent kitchen and bath designer and contractor. A good full service RTA cabinet company will offer expert design services.

So, there you have it. Today’s fine quality RTA cabinets are well built and made from the finest wood. They’re easy to assemble and they also come in all the latest new colors and finishes. They will add value to your home at a price you can afford. RTA cabinets are a smart option whether you’re planning a new kitchen or just a simple face lift.
